Bietigheim 2016

Team U12 CEHA wins Gold
in Bietigheim at the
The 4 th international 12 team ELWA cup

The 4 th international 12 team ELWA Cup hosted by the
SC Bietigheim-Bissingen Steelers, was won by the undermanned CEHA
team, coached by Doug Kacharvich, Cory Holden and head coach Marc Garthe.

The CEHA allstar team competed with a tournament
small roster of 12 skaters and 1 goalie.

As in previous under 12 tournaments, team CEHA was

also the youngest team competing, with only 3 2004
born players, and 1 2002 born female.

The tournament started slowly, as the underrated
ECDC Memmingen team jumped out to a 1-0 lead after 20 seconds of play.
Team CEHA regained composure and went on to a 3-1 victory.

Game 2 was a 5-1 loss to the very strong
Schwenninger ERC team, who owe a lot of their success and development
to CEHA coach John Noob, who coached them for several previous seasons.

Game 3 was against Stuttgart. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, Stuttgart stormed
back with some brilliant offensive plays and a 4-2 lead.
Not to be outdone CEHA came back with 3 quick goals, and a 5-4 lead, before cementing
this exciting comeback with an empty net goal.

Shortly after, team CEHA had its quarter Final game against the Dutch National U 12
team. A very strong fore check from the start never left the game in doubt, as team CEHA
emerged with a convincing 4-0 win.

In the Semi finals, team CEHA faced the very strong
Löwen Frankfurt team,  The first half ended in a tight checking 0-0 score.
Team CEHA had a 1-0 lead until late in the game when Frankfurt tied it up with a great individual
effort.

In the most exciting game of the tournament, Frankfurt led the penalty shot competition 1-0
with team CEHA needing a goal to tie in its last attempt. CEHA and possibly tournament MVP Carl Konze scored,
to tie, then also scored on his next attempt for the lead. Frankfurt needing a goal against the very strong
CEHA goalie Colin Forschner, hit the post for an exciting Semi final victory.

The final was against the previously undefeated Schwenninger ERC team, which had provide team CEHA
with its only tournament defeat.
Team CEHA used a aggressive game plan to smother Schwennigen team in their own zone, and emerged
with a well deserved  4-1 win to provide team CEHA Under 12 team with its first tournament victory.
